I am Karyl Zimmerman LCSW, I am so very lucky to have found a second career that I truly enjoy, I have been working as a Social Worker for the last 12 years.
My first career was as a Recreational Therapist. I graduated in 2013 with my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. Between both jobs, I have worked 41 years helping/working with people from all walks of life in various ways. I have experience with adolescents and adults of all ages. I have experience with most mental health problems and addictions and am trained in EMDR trauma therapy. In addition, I work with people with cognitive disabilities and autism.
My experience being a therapist has taught me there is no single approach that is a one-size-fits-all all. I am a believer in talk therapy and medication together can be a good combination for some people. Finding your authentic self, feeling peaceful in your skin, practicing self-forgiveness, and celebrating your strengths can lead to healing.
People I work with can expect and depend that I will be ready to work with them, support them in finding solutions to their goals in therapy, be someone in their corner, and someone who will push them gently or hard to believe in themselves and their ability to find their path to help them grow and change.
I am warm, non-judgmental, a good listener, and can build a therapeutic relationship with most people. I am an animal lover, play pickleball, enjoy being in nature, playing guitar, board games and traveling.
